The crimped shank for the glass eye is made from stainless steel so no rusting and has been flattened to enable the clip to be squeezed together after the securing thread has been attached. This makes as small as possible profile to the loop, creating no damage to the weave when the glass eye is fitted to the stuffy's head.
The end of the shank is formed into a small ball which is then inserted into the molten glass, this does make the eye more secure and less likely under normal use to not pull apart. However, stating that and the fact that the eye is sewn on, it is still NOT recommended for use in a stuffy that a baby or toddler will play with.
